2D/3D Animation
overview
2D/3D Animation
We excel at crafting vibrant and fluid animations that breathe life into characters, scenes, and environments. Whether for games, films, or interactive media, our approach ensures that each animation is smooth, expressive, and visually compelling. From initial movement concepts to final refinements, we focus on creating animations that feel authentic, engaging, and seamlessly integrate into your project.
Types of Animation Design
- 2D Animation
At our studio, 2D animation is more than just movement on screen — it’s storytelling in its purest, most visual form. We use 2D animation to create engaging, emotionally rich experiences that are ideal for mobile games, animated content, explainer videos, and web-based storytelling. Whether the goal is humor, depth, simplicity, or style, 2D gives us complete control over tone, pacing, and personality. We approach every 2D project with a structured workflow that blends creativity and efficiency :
Stylized / Hand-Drawn Animation
This classic approach involves drawing each frame manually (digitally or traditionally), resulting in organic, expressive movement. It's perfect for projects that need a unique visual identity, emotional impact, or artistic storytelling. We often use this style in animated shorts, story-driven content, and title sequences where every frame is a piece of art.
Keyframe-Based Animation
This is our go-to method for efficient, scalable 2D production. Instead of drawing every frame, we animate key poses and let the software interpolate the in-betweens. This allows us to keep characters consistent, speed up production, and deliver smooth animation across multiple assets. We often use tools like Adobe Animate and Toon Boom Harmony for this method.
Stop-Motion Inspired Animation
While not physically shot frame by frame like traditional stop motion, this digital approach mimics the feel — slightly stiffer motion, exaggerated timing, and a handcrafted vibe. It’s great for content that wants to feel quirky, nostalgic, or indie-styled. We simulate this using timing tricks, unique frame rates, and stylized animation pacing.
- 3D Animation
3D animation brings depth and realism to characters and environments, commonly used in games and films. It allows for more complex movements, lifelike behaviors, and dynamic camera angles, providing an immersive experience.
Concept Development
The process begins with understanding the desired movements and emotions of the character or object. Artists develop a clear visual plan, exploring various poses and actions through sketches and storyboards. This stage defines the character’s range of motion, tone, and pace, ensuring that the animation will align with the project's visual and emotional goals.
Rigging and Skinning
- Rigging is the process of creating a skeleton structure for a 3D model, setting up bones, controls, and joints that allow the character to move. Skinning attaches the 3D model’s surface to the rig, ensuring that the character's movements, like bending or twisting, appear smooth and natural. This step is crucial for achieving realistic and believable animation.
Keyframe Animation and Blocking
In this phase, we establish the foundational poses and key movements of the animation. Keyframes mark the most important points of the action, such as the start, peak, and end of a movement. The blocking process focuses on refining the timing and flow, ensuring the character’s movements are dynamic and convey the intended emotion or action.
In-Betweening and Refining
After establishing the keyframes, in-betweening (or “tweening”) is used to create the smooth transitions between poses. Artists fill in the gaps by drawing intermediate frames, ensuring the movement flows naturally. Refining focuses on improving timing, adding subtleties like weight shifts or facial expressions, and ensuring fluidity and realism.
Adding Secondary Motion and Details
Secondary motion enhances the realism and richness of the animation by introducing movements that occur as a result of the primary action. This could include a character’s hair or clothing reacting to movement, or a character’s eyes shifting to show thought or emotion. These subtle movements help bring the character to life and make the animation feel more immersive.
Final Rendering and Polishing
Once the animation is fully created, it undergoes final adjustments and rendering. We optimize the movement for performance, ensuring it’s fluid and meets the technical needs of the platform. Details like lighting, shadows, and textures are added to enhance the visual impact, while the animation is polished for consistency and smoothness.
Motion Graphics
Motion graphics animate graphic design elements like text, shapes, and logos. Often used in promotional videos, user interfaces, and branding, this style focuses on clean, engaging motion to communicate information and create visual interest.

Animation Software
Adobe Animate
We use Adobe Animate for creating responsive, high-quality 2D vector animations — ideal for web, mobile games, ads, and interactive content. Its flexibility allows us to produce smooth frame-by-frame animation or use puppet rigs for faster movement. The tool integrates easily into HTML5 workflows, making it perfect for lightweight, browser-friendly projects. Animate is essential to our process when we need fast turnaround, clean lines, and scalable visuals that perform well across devices. It's a go-to for short-form animation, character loops, UI motion, and dynamic ad content.
Autodesk Maya
Autodesk Maya is our core tool for high-end 3D modeling, rigging, and animation. We use it to create detailed characters, props, and environments with full control over geometry and topology. Its rigging system allows us to build flexible, animator-friendly skeletons with precise control over facial expressions, body movement, and mechanical functions. When animating, we rely on Maya’s robust timeline, graph editor, and layering systems to craft smooth, expressive motion — whether for gameplay, trailers, or cinematic scenes. Maya ensures we deliver production-quality results that meet the standards of console, and AAA-level games.
Blender
We use Blender as a powerful, all-in-one 3D solution for concept development, stylized content, and full-scene creation. Its open-source flexibility makes it ideal for everything from sculpting and animation to simulations and rendering. Blender is especially useful in fast-paced or stylized projects, where we need to move quickly without sacrificing visual quality. We take advantage of its rigging tools, non-linear animation system, and real-time rendering engine (Eevee) to deliver polished results. Blender’s versatility lets us prototype ideas, animate characters, and produce final assets efficiently, making it a key tool in both indie and large-scale productions.
Toon Boom Harmony
Toon Boom Harmony is our top choice for high-end 2D animation, especially when a project calls for detailed character work, lip-sync, and complex scenes. It's widely used in television, animated series, and story-driven mobile content. We use Harmony for its advanced drawing tools, bone rigging, and deformers that give characters depth and flexibility. It allows our animators to blend traditional frame-by-frame animation with rigged performance, making it ideal for polished, expressive animation. Harmony is essential in projects where storytelling and character-driven visuals take center stage.
Spine
Spine is our dedicated tool for 2D skeletal animation, especially for mobile games, UI animations, and interactive assets. It’s optimized for game development, allowing us to create fluid animations with minimal resource usage. We use Spine to rig characters with bones and meshes, enabling smooth, dynamic movement while keeping file sizes low. Its integration with game engines like Unity makes it a perfect fit for real-time animations in gameplay. Spine is an essential part of our pipeline when performance, efficiency, and visual appeal need to align.
